Tuesdays on and off road

The club aims to have five different paced groups on the roads (winter) and off-road (summer). The groups are all supervised by experienced group leaders who know the routes, will help to maintain the correct pace and provide safety cover in case of accidents. The groups are:

Long Run (between 6-8 miles)

7 minute miling

7.30 minute miling

8-8.30 minute miling

Short Run (4-5 miles) around 8.30-9 minute miling

Beginners (3-5 miles)

Tuesday on track

We have up to 40 senior athletes training on the track on Tuesday evenings. Sessions vary from 5km to 10km in length and include drill and optional conditioning work at the end. Sessions are tailored to individual ability, we normally have 4 distinct training groups working to distance or time depending on ability.

Thursdays on and off road

Thursdays tend to be less busy, and as a consequence there may be fewer groups going out on the road. There is usually a 2K reps session, suited to all abilities, as the session is run at each athletes own pace. We aim to have at least one long and one short road group, and will always provide a beginners group. Please see Senior Groups Coaching pages for more detail.

Follow the links to the winter and summer routes.

Sunday long runs

These are organised individually by club members. Runs vary from 10 to 20 miles over mixed terrain. Specific long run ‘sessions’ are organised for club members preparing for marathons.
